If you’re from outside of California, you might not have heard of a tri-tip steak before. It is the large, tender, triangular cut from the bottom sirloin. A versatile cut, it is often used in chili competitions for its leanness. That said, it is cooked by itself all the time! It is incredibly flavorful so you don’t need to season it with much, just add a pinch of black pepper or seasoning of your choice and you’re good to go.
